Well I finally started working on my CNC table today. So far I have lathed the bearing mounts for the end truck and mounted two of the guide bearings. The trucks I am building are from 4x4x3/8" square steel tubing. I aquired 4 ecentric guide bearings as well which I will most likely mount tommorow.
These are the wheel bearing mounts, I started milling the flats on one already, just 3 more to go. I will then press the shafts into the bearing and mount them on the trucks. Should work fairly well.
I also have a single axis hooked up to my controller. I ditched the 4i65 card and 800MHz CPU. The motherboard is just a little too slow in the gui from my likings. I'm sure I'll find a use for it one day where no gui is needed. I have opted to go for the 7i43 parallel port card which so far works like a charm from my main computer. I also purchased mini-itx system from logic supply to power the thing, I liked the size and the price tag was fairly nice too.
I may wish to sell off some of the old parts I have changed my mind on part way through if anyone is interested in a PC104/+ 800MHz CPU and Mesa 4i65 FPGA card let me know... |
